World Restart a Heart Day – 16th October 2021

CPR Challenge

We are challenging anyone who knows how to do CPR to come together on Saturday 16th October 2021 at the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil to raise awareness of the importance of knowing CPR by doing it for a select amount of time. We will have time slots of 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes depending on your ability and what time you would like to achieve.

How businesses can get involved

If you have first aiders at work then why not challenge them at the same time? So long as your first aid requirements are covered in your workplace, you can send the other first aiders to complete their challenge at the same time. We will do our best to arrange those from the same businesses to complete their challenge at the same time, this would not only encourage the challengers but also great publicity for your business to show you are involved within this community project.

How charities, sports clubs and volunteers can get involved

In the same way with the businesses, if you have a number of people who know CPR then we will try to arrange them to complete their challenge all together. This is a great way to bring the team together for a common cause plus they will have the support of each other to push themselves to their personal goals.

Sponsorship

We are asking those who wish to participate to raise sponship money to provide more publically accessable defibrillators within the Yeovil area. Not only will money raised go towards the purchase of these lifesaving devices but will also go towards the general maintainance of them, whether it be new pads, replacement batteries or assist with insurance. No business will take a single penny of the money raised.

Where and when?

The event will be taking place at the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil, BA20 5EY from 10am to 4pm on 16th October 2021.

FAQ’s

How many challenger spaces are available?

Our initial goal is to have 100 people taking part throughout the day, however we have the equipment available to have 50+ participants at the same time so theory says we have space for over 600 challengers (based on them all doing 15 minutes).

If I'm a challenger, will I be using the same manikin as someone else?

Everybody’s safety is of paramount thought during this event. All manikins will undergo a steralisation process in between participants which includes sterilising of the faces and replacing the lungs. All participants will be given the option to use a face shield when completing their challenge and hand gel must be used before your challenge begins.

I want to participate but unsure I'd meet my challenge, what can I do?

When you register we will email helpful guides and tips to help you achieve your goal, whether that be 15, 30, 45 or 1 hour’s worth of CPR. We will also be arranging practice sessions in the build up to the day so that you can practice and receive guidance from our trainers to give you the best possible chance of completing your challenge.

What if I feel ill during my challenge?

We will have a number of medics on hand to assist if any participate feels ill or becomes injuried. Our intension is not for this to happen but rest assured we will be prepared if for whatever reason something does happen.
